Conservation
Make your safari more meaningful by supporting conservation and community projects across Africa. From wildlife protection and beekeeping to sustainable farming and education, discover ways to connect with the places you visit.
Conservation is an important part of the safari experience with Nziza. The properties we work with support projects that protect wildlife, care for the environment and benefit local communities. A contribution to these projects is included in the cost of your safari, helping support conservation work in the areas you visit.
At selected properties, you can also go beyond making a contribution and visit a project during your stay. This gives you the opportunity to see the work first-hand, meet the people involved and learn how conservation is making a difference.
Why Get Involved in Conservation?
A conservation visit gives you a deeper understanding of the places you are exploring and the work being done to protect them. You might learn how local communities are using sustainable farming methods, see how wildlife is monitored or discover how beekeeping is helping create new sources of income.
Depending on the project, you may also have the chance to take part in simple research, wildlife monitoring or community activities. Each experience is shaped by the needs of the local environment and community.
Things to Do
Conservation experiences vary by property and destination, but may include:
- Visiting wildlife monitoring and conservation projects
- Learning about anti-poaching and wildlife protection efforts
- Visiting beekeeping and honey production projects
- Discovering sustainable grazing and land management practices
- Meeting local communities involved in conservation
- Learning about education and community development programmes
- Taking part in wildlife or environmental monitoring with local researchers
Where to Experience It
Conservation experiences are available at selected Nziza partner properties across Africa, including Kenya’s Laikipia, Masai Mara, Samburu and Amboseli regions, as well as Tanzania’s Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire.
Similar experiences can also be arranged at selected properties in South Africa, Rwanda, Botswana, Namibia, Uganda and Ethiopia.
Plan Your Conservation Experience
A conservation experience can add a deeper sense of purpose to your safari. Whether you simply want to know that your stay is supporting local projects or would like to visit one and see the work for yourself, there are many ways to get involved.
Nziza can include a conservation visit in your tailor-made safari where available, helping you connect more closely with the wildlife, landscapes and communities that make Africa so special.
